About Dedrone by Axon
Dedrone by Axon is a drone defense system that uses sensors and machine learning algorithms to protect organizations from nefarious drones. They were acquired by Axon to support with guidance for Drone-First Responders.
The Need
Aligning Sales, Fulfillment, and Finance
When we started working with Dedrone, they were struggling to find a CRM that their sales, fulfillment, and finance teams could collaborate together in. They had finished onboarding with NetSuite for their financial and fulfillment systems, but were facing issues with handoffs of new orders to their ERP from their CRM. Additionally, visibility on fulfillments for partial fulfillments and ship dates was difficult, making it hard for salespeople to communicate with their clients about fulfillment times and invoicing.
The Solution
Erabond learned how to integrate NetSuite and Salesforce for the Dedrone by Axon team so that we could automate order creations in NetSuite from closed won deals in Salesforce, send invoicing updates to the CRM, and update fulfillment statuses.
Automate Sales Order Creation
First, we created an integration that would automatically create sales orders in NetSuite from closed won deals in Salesforce. This replaced a typical 3 day delay on orders. It opened the gateway for syncing data between the two systems.
Syncing Fulfillment Status
Next, we built a sync back from NetSuite to send regular updates for orders back into Salesforce. This allowed the sales team to be in the know on orders without messaging the Operations team for every order.
Syncing Invoice Data
Third, we built a sync for invoice data back into Salesforce so that the sales and finance team could be aligned on updates in invoices and payment statuses.
Track Fulfillment By Line
Finally, we built out a process to track fulfillment by each individual product line. This allowed us to run revenue recognition on a line by line basis and track partial fulfillments.
The Outcomes
The outcomes for Dedrone by Axon were focused on improving delivery times and improving alignment across the team. Teams were separated in two systems which reduced how well they could communicate together.
With the automated sales order creation, we reduced the time it took to load a new order from 3 days to a minute. This reduced the need from sales to check in on finance and allowed invoicing to happen quicker.
With our work on invoicing and fulfillment tracking, we were able to allow sales and operations team members to know about key pieces of information about billing and fulfillment without leaving their CRM. You can read the testimonials below to learn more about the impact these changes had.
Kevin’s work with Dedrone has fostered a collaborative sharing environment throughout the individual portions of the organization he has worked with. I attribute his and Erabond’s success to their ability to gather and verify customer requirements and communicate clearly and effectively with all of our business units. Finance and sales operations have seen our quote-to-cash process timeline greatly reduced as a direct result of his work with NetSuite and SFDC. I have no doubt that Kevin can embed with any business unit and quickly show where process/automation/data consolidation efforts can be undertaken to save time, money, and most importantly; wasted effort. Kevin has done a tremendous job bringing efficiency to our organization. His work integrated our CRM (Salesforce) and ERP (NetSuite), eliminated multiple manual processes. This improved data accuracy in our ERP and reduced the "time to load from CRM To ERP" from ~3 days to mere seconds. Kevin has played an integral role in building speed, efficiency and accuracy in Dedrone’s Sales and Operations workflow with two key automations: 1) Sales Order creation in NetSuite; and 2) back feeding Fulfillment and Shipping details from NetSuite to Salesforce. Kevin was able to jump into this project and develop a quick understanding of our business procedures and system structure. During the last two months, we have relied on Kevin’s technical and system skills to pivot to other ad hoc projects required for the acquisition including revamping our Purchase Order Approval workflow setup and Packing Slip design in NetSuite.

I used to do this manually and it would generally take 1-2 hours per week (sometimes longer if there were import errors). The new process runs smoothly and automatically.
